I’ve been wearing the Tyrant for more than fifteen years as my “go to” sports eyewear. I currently own two pair “clear” photochomatic, one pair brown photochromatic, and one pair brown photocromatic/polerized. I use them for runs, biking, snowshoeing, fishing, sailing, and sometimes even as casual eyewear. I like the way I can adjust the nosepiece and the temples to customize the fit and the wrap around lenses do a solid job of blocking glare and wind from the side. The hardcase that comes with them is durable. They are a good value too. The oldest pair I still use regularly were purvcased in 2009!
These lightweight sunglasses sit perfect on my face. The nose and ear area both have material that keep the sunglasses in place. I have worn them for over a year and they are scratch free. Great pair of sunglasses at an incredible value. Would recommend to runners, bikers, or other outdoor enthusiasts.
I've been wearing the Tyrant model with Fitotech lenses for about a month now. Mostly mountain biking and a total of 5 days at work (construction -excavation). The glasses are comfortable and don't move around even during intense activity with sweat. The nose piece and bows work together to essentially lock them in place on your face. The vented lenses do help prevent fogging though not 100% especially if there is little air flow like when one stops biking. and sweat begins .
My chief criticism is the performance vs. cost of the Fototec lenses. They do not darken nearly enough even in full sunlight to prevent eye strain. A few days at work in full sun, I went back to my previous shades because it was too bright with the Tifosi Fototec. Despite being graded for the amount of darkening capability of the lenses (thus, I was informed of the spec prior to purchase), the fact is they are insufficient on a clear, sunny day and would expect a worse experience in winter when snow glare is an issue. Besides the darkening rating is not a spec that's really relatable from a spec sheet to real life experience. The significant price increase the Fototec lenses incur is definitely NOT worth it. It would be better to get a couple pair of replaceable lenses differing in their shade of darkness.
Since ordering direct from Tifosi, I have seen multiple third party listings on sites such as eBay, for identical, brand new models listed for much less than the retail price given on the Tifosi website. I encourage you to look around for Tifosi products sold elsewhere.
To summarize, I like and recommend Tifosi eyewear but would avoid the expense of Fototech lenses
These Tyrant 2.0 glasses are so comfortable and durable I've purchased 3 pair so I'm not without them anywhere. The glare removal is the best and very comfortable in the hottest weather..
Great fit and very comfortable. Photo-sensitive lens don’t darken very much but still very helpful.
