Spring Safety
While you’re out with friends and family on Spring adventures, remember the three Ss: Sunscreen, Sunglasses and Stay Hydrated!
Sunscreen
Spring may be cooler than summery days, but it doesn’t have to be hot for your skin to burn or to be exposed to damaging UV rays. The Spring sun can also be intense and in many of areas of the country the UV rays can be summer strength by late Spring. So be sure to apply sunscreen 15 to 20 minutes before heading outdoors and reapply it every two every hours once you’re outside.
Sunglasses
Yes, sunglasses are a fun fashion accessory but they’re also an effective way to prevent sun damage to our eyes. Just like with sunscreen, the sun may not feel intense during the Spring but that doesn’t mean you’re not prone to the sun’s UV radiation. This is why it’s important to always wear sunglasses that offer UV protection. All Tifosi sunglasses provide 100% protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays and have a glare guard which reduces eye strain. You can also purchase polarized sunglasses for added protection. Polarized lenses are designed to reflect light, reduce glare, and enhance color, making them perfect for water activities or anytime you can expect the sun to reflect off the road during the Spring months.
Stay hydrated
The temperatures start to rise in Spring, so getting enough to drink whether you’re playing sports, taking a walk, or just sunbathing is crucial. Keeping the body hydrated pumps blood more easily from the heart to the blood vessels then to your muscles and staying hydrated can prevent fainting or muscle cramps. Hydrate well with cold drinks before going out in the sun. And when you’re in direct sunlight or outdoors, take breaks to drink water or a sports drink that can replenish your electrolytes.
With Spring comes adventure so get outside and soak up all this season has to offer!
