Tifosi pro triathlete Jen Annett had herself a weekend in early August.

In her first attempt at the Ultraman distance (10K swim, 420K bike, 84.4K run) Jen was first over the finish line at Ultraman Canada to not only win the event outright but also re-write the record book.

Ultraman is a 3-day event with Day 1 comprised of the 10Km swim and 145Km of the bike course. Day 2 is the remaining 275Km of the bike, and Day 3 is a double-marathon. It requires a tremendous level of endurance fitness, mental toughness and support just to finish, but Jen did so much more than just finish. Her 2:51:18 swim time fell short of the course record but she broke the previous women’s record for Day 1 bike and the Day 1 total. She followed that up with a new record for the Day 2 bike, the Bike total and the Day 1&2 total. Day 3 was the double-marathon and, you guessed it, she set a new course record for the run, and for overall time.

The record-setting didn’t end there. Her finishing time of 21:39:32 is the fastest recorded by a woman at any Ultraman event, slicing almost one full hour off Dede Griesbauer’s 22:38:41 in 2020.

With her world-best performance in tow Jen is headed to Kona in November to line up for the Ultraman World Championships, and has to be considered a strong contender for the women’s title. There is a large community of fellow triathletes living in Penticton that have known and trained with Jen for the 11+ years she has raced professionally. That group has worked hard to help Jen in her quest, raising money and providing donations to help with the expense of racing these events. Ultraman requires a support crew and vehicles, so getting the entire group there for the time needed to put it all together is a costly venture.

For the past 5 years Jen has been sporting a Tifosi logo on her race kit, and faithfully posting pics on her IG of training rides and runs with a pair of Swicks or Rails front and center (@annet_jen). Penticton-based Podium Imports has been Tifosi’s Canadian distributor for the past four years and Jen was pretty much the first athlete they signed up to be an ambassador. There isn’t a more cheerful and down-to-earth athlete in triathlon let alone any other sport. Follow her, and wish her success this November!
