Born from the notion that more opportunities were needed for developing riders in the U.S., Team Mountain Khakis is committed to mentoring young professionals at the beginning of their racing career. Team Mountain Khakis combines neo-pro riders with seasoned veterans of the U.S. cycling scene to create a program focused on learning the basics, taking risks and establishing teaching moments from both victories and defeats. Last year's season taught the pro peloton not to underestimate this team as they pulled out a dramatic dark horse win at the 2008 Harlem Skyscraper Classic. Mountain Khakis Off to an Early Lead at Speedweek 2009

Team Mountain Khakis started the 2009 Speedweek criterium series off on a high note with Tom Soladay taking the win at the 2009 Nalley Historic Roswell Criterium on April 26.

The win came after Soladay and four other riders organized a breakaway that stayed away from the main field for nearly half the race. Early attempts to chase down the breakaway were thwarted by Soladay's teammates and members of the other teams in the break.

With one lap to go, Soladay mustered his remaining strength to breakaway and give a solo victory salute at the finish.

The win came on the heels of teammate Mark Heckman's second place finish at the 30th Annual Athens Twilight Criterium the night before. Heckman won the Athens Twilight in 2007, surprising many of his competitors and foreshadowing what has been an illustrious professional career.

The Mountain Khakis hit squad will participate in the remaining five Speedweek races taking place throughout the Southeast.
