The Tucson, Arizona native Stuart Sherman played soccer and basketball before being introduced to volleyball in his sophomore year of high school. After a year of playing indoor volleyball for the dominant program of the University of Arizona, Stuart decided to focus solely on beach volleyball. He achieved great success as an amateur, adding many titles to his record. Stuart moved to dominate beach volleyball community of southern California in 2007, where he still resides, to enable him train and compete with the best in his sport. 2009 was Stuart’s first year as a professional beach volleyball player in the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP). At 24 he is one of the youngest players in the AVP, and hopes to make 2010 his break out year. In March, Stuart finished 5th in the IDQ (International Development Qualifiers), qualifying him as an alternate for the NORCECA Beach circuit and other international events. In April, he placed 5th in the first AVP “Qualifier” of the year.
